Sweet Beginnings


Spending the evening with Mackenzie and Jaelen at White Rock Lake in Dallas was a peaceful pause amidst the excitement leading up to their wedding. Their love is sweet and full of warmth, joy, and a calm confidence in each other. You can tell right away that they truly are best friends and were made for each other.

Their Story


Mackenzie and Jaelen’s story began their freshman year at Ouachita Baptist University, where they met through their college cross country and track team. At the time, their roommates were dating each other—so they naturally ended up spending a lot of time together, and eventually started dating themselves!


This past March, Jaelen proposed to Mackenzie during a special trip to Folly Beach in South Carolina. They were visiting to look at apartments as they prepared for their upcoming move for graduate school, and both of their moms were there to witness the sweet surprise. It was such a thoughtful and meaningful moment—one that perfectly reflects their close-knit, joyful relationship.

Golden Hour by the Water


We planned their engagement session for sunset, and White Rock Lake gave us the dreamiest golden light. Between the open field and the dock on the lake, we had the perfect mix of peaceful, romantic, and playful moments. Their smiles were constant, and the way they laughed together made my job easy.

A Celebration to Remember


One of my favorite moments came at the very end of the session when they popped a bottle of champagne out on the dock. It felt like a joyful, celebratory close to such a meaningful evening. It’s always a treat when couples bring little touches like this that reflect their personality and excitement!

Looking Ahead


This session was just the beginning as I will be photographing Mackenzie and Jaelen’s wedding this December at The Gardenia Venue in Valley View, TX!  I already know it’s going to be the most beautiful day and I’m so honored to be part of their story. It is truly a gift to serve couples like Mackenzie and Jaelen and to celebrate in all the joy of marriage.
